The Islamic model of the soul is a metaphysical anatomy of the various faculties of consciousness of the human being as defined by the Quran and elaborated on in Hadith. The study of the soul (‘ilm al nafs) is the foundation of Islamic Psychology which describes the various dimensions of a human being, the journey of the soul from a relative state of forgetfulness of its source in Allah, disintegration and distance from its fitra (the principial or primordial nature of humanity) into one of refinement, integration and remembrance of Allah.

This indigenous framework addresses the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual health of an individual embedded in their environment through supporting their unique process of healing, resolving possible trauma and integration.
